- F - Fish

Derek William Dick, better known as Fish. Really the best place to start is with the Marillion period prior to 1988 but I'm sure I'll get to that at some stage.

With some 9 studio albums, 20+ live albums and 4 compilations plus a variety of obscure releases there's a lot to choose from. No reason why we shouldn't start with the first solo outing from 1990 Vigil in Wilderness of Mirrors which includes many tracks still played live Internal Exile, Big Wedge and The Company. 1993's Songs from the Mirror is a covers album and excellent including fellow Scot Alex Harvey's Boston Tea Party, the Kinks Apeman, Argent's Hold Your Head Up, Genesis I Know What I like plus Bowie, Pink Floyd and Marc Bolan covers - its highly recommended.

Fish live is a bit more of a challenge as a lot of the discs have been released on Fish's own label Dick Bros and take a bit of searching but a good start is Return to Childhood a double release that includes Fish solo and many Marillion classics such as Kayleigh, Lavender and . Market Square Heroes. Other live albums to look out for Pigpen's Birthday, For Whom the Bells Toll, Toiling in the Reeperbahn and Tales from the Big Bus but be warned some of these won't come cheap.

If Fish is touring near you, don't miss him always a great show and a very friendly guy as well...
