The Rules

What are the rules for collecting rock music? What's cool and what's not? This is a bit of a trick question as Rock music may never be cool again but that's good because you wouldn't be heading down the Rock road (you would probably be looking instead for whatever this week's rap, dance download is).

There is a general rule that the live record is the fans only or contractual recording and avoided at all costs. Fine but of course all rules are made to be broken and every collection needs a copy of AC/DC If You Want Blood, You've Got It and Kiss Alive II followed by (and now re-mastered and re-released) Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous

I'm sure I'll dig out a few more essential buys as I work through my collection. Armed with those three you can't go wrong. As an aside, on release, the Kiss Alive 11 disc was hailed as the best live recording of all time by then Sounds scribe Geoff Barton

Welcome

Where do I start?. I've decided to look back at the music I've grown up with. In between I'll be sharing music that's happening now and if I stumble upon it, music that's on it's way. There will be a heavy bias towards Rock music but let's face it, this genre includes the Beatles, Stones, Sex Pistols (ok Punk Rock) Hawkwind (Acid Rock), Dream Theater (Prog Rock)  get the idea?

So - For Those About to Rock.....
