- B - Black Crowes, Black Grape

With a few nods towards the Rolling Stones, the Black Crowes debut Shake Your Money Maker is a solid blues/rock album including stand out track Jealous Again. Originally available as a bespoke cd where the buyer could choose the tracks and running order; Live At The Greek is also an essential purchase; a live collaboration with Jimmy Page sees the Crowes move from the Rolling Stones influence to Led Zeppelin.

Following the demise of the Happy Mondays, Shawn Ryder returned with Black Grape whose debut It's Great When You're Straight ... Yeah! features the essential Reverend Black Grape, In The Name of the Father and Kelly's Heroes.

This album opens up a whole new topic on vocal styles and singing voices. If I mention John Lydon, Alex Harvey and Lemmy as a start, their voices could be compared to gargling with gravel but the resulting noises have produced landmark statements in rock. I'm sure there will be many more examples as I plough through this guide. Suffice to say if you think Michael Buble has a lovely voice then you're reading the wrong blog (and no, he definately won't be featuring under any recommendations other than avoid at all costs.)
